my question is, is this all stable for a long while… have this currency a real long future… because i think its the wright way having an internet currency, we´ve so many problems with “immaterielle güter” imma…(sorry for english).. that we have trade with something like that, ok the big problems are deflation, hacker and some other important aspects, but the bitcoin has a wonderful speculativ…(sorry..) site and the whole concept seems to be getting better by crowdsourcing, natural marketlaws a.s.o…. or isnt it this way… im very interested in more facts…thx 4 answer

Puh! Rauchwölkchen entsteigen meinem Eiweißcomputer…
Wieder eine tolle Folge mit einem super Gesprächspartner, der dies an für sich “unverständliche” oder besser “unanschauliche” Thema m.E. so gut es geht dem geneigten Hörer nahe bringen konnte.
Ich muss es mir einfach noch Mal in Ruhe anhören, für nebenher beim Auto fahren ist es doch etwas zu hirnverknotend…
;-)
Ich freue mich schon – wie wir Schwaben sagen: “saumäßig” – auf die weiteren Folgen!

Here is what Wikipedia says:

As the name suggests, spin was originally conceived as the rotation of a particle around some axis. This picture is correct so far as spins obey the same mathematical laws as quantized angular momenta do. On the other hand, spins have some peculiar properties that distinguish them from orbital angular momenta:

Spin quantum numbers may take on half-odd-integer values;

Although the direction of its spin can be changed, an elementary particle cannot be made to spin faster or slower.

The spin of a charged particle is associated with a magnetic dipole moment with a g-factor differing from 1. This could only occur classically if the internal charge of the particle were distributed differently from its mass.

Great interview, but I was thinking the same: I really wanted to learn what is meant by the ‘spin’ of a fundamental particle’. Clearly it isn’t a physical spin, but exactly what does it represent. Anyway, thank you Markus. I’ve wondered about the Fine Structure Constant for years and this helps a little!

It does leak fuel as you say, but it’s not so much that this is the reason to refuel directly after take-off. I think that was Rich’s point.

@Markus Ich finde das überhaupt nicht problematisch, dass ihr das gleiche Thema behandelt. Das ist doch wunderbar, wenn man sich das aus mehreren Quellen erklären lassen kann! :)

Ich dachte mir einfach, dass eine “Verlinkung” hier ganz praktisch wäre, damit Hörer des einen Podcasts auf den Anderen aufmerksam werden und habe das daher in die Kommentaren geworfen.

Ich freu mich schon, den Podcast zu hören, aber ich hänge noch bei Ariane 5 und der Apollo-Mission ;)
Ich war letztens erst in Manching bei der Firma Cassidian (EADS), wo ja das Rumpfteil gefertigt wird und alle deutschen Eurofighter endmontiert werden, bei einer Betriebsbesichtigung. Wenn jetzt noch Infos aus der Folge dazukommen, wird’s richtig interessant!

Topic top, der englische Akzent
war suuper- extremst nervig.
M.E. hat sich David
sogar bemüht, Englisch und kein
Schottisch zu sprechen. Letzteres

Higgins, Maguire, Dott etc. oft, und
da versteht man fast nur noch Bahnhof.

Habe jetzt zwar erst 40 Minuten von diesem Podcast gehört, gefällt mir aber ausgesprochen gut. Gerade auch die Fragen. Vielleicht auch weil ich einen ähnlichen Background habe. Habe es immerhin bis zum Luftfahrerschein im Segelflug gebracht. (Damals)
Ich habe auch noch einen Vorschlag. Einen Podcast über die F-4 Phantom deren Tage ja gezählt sind. Das könnte man vielleicht auch noch mit Thema “Flugzeugfotografen” verbinden da es am 05.06.2012 einen Spottertag geben soll. Und natürlich wäre das (bald) einzige Marinefliegergeschwader 3 in Nordholz einen Podcast wert. Und das hat nichts damit zu tun das ich in Nordholz wohne ;)

Bin gerade erst dazu gekommen, die Folge zu hören. Eine schöne Episode, in der ich ein ums andere Mal an meine eigenen Berührungspunkte mit Mathe (z.B. in der Oberstufe im LK einen Lehrer, der auch an der Uni Übungen leitete und sehr wohl Wert darauf legte, nicht nur Rechenvorschriften zu vermitteln) erinnert wurde.

Eine kleine Anmerkung zur Verwendbarkeit von Quaternionen: sie eignen sich wunderbar z.B. in der 3D-Computergraphik, um Drehungen zu berechnen, ohne dabei in ein Problem zu laufen, welches man bei “normalen” Drehungen per Euler-Winkeln hätte: den Gimbal Lock oder auch kardanische Blockade (http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gimbal_lock). Insofern also ein gar nicht mal so abwegiges Konstrukt sondern im Gegenteil ein fast schon allgegenwärtiges.

I like the breadth of topics you cover, I was intrigued when I saw this episode up, not that I am a huge rollercoaster fan.
I was hoping to get more information into their actual design process. Like, what is an engineer designing for other than high-but-bearable impulse to make a ride fun? Are the engineers part of the theming process? Do they scope out the location before engineering, similar to a building architect?
Maybe I didn’t pay enough attention. I did enjoy hearing about the different technologies/mechanisms of coasters though.

Es stimmt, er hat schon etwas unlebendig gesprochen. Und ja, ich hatte daher auch tatsächlich Probleme mit der Aussteuerung. Auch in der Postproduktion war das Problem dann eben den Level hochzuziehen ohne Rauschen rein zu bekommen….

War auch wieder sehr interessant,
aber leider eher in negativer Hinsicht.
Bei diesem Gesprächspartner, der offenbar
Beamter ist, und auch etwas leise ausgesteuert wurde, bin ich beinahe eingeschlafen (kein Witz!).

M.e. der bis dato schlechteste OmegaTau-Podcast.
Dafür sind die meisten anderen wirklich klasse,
also nichts für ungut.

Es kann doch m.E. auch nicht sein, daß
der schwierigste Teil eines All-Reparatur-
manövers die Umstellung der Schichtpläne
in Pfaffenhofen ist.

War gut, dieses Thema berührt zu haben.
Leider wurde im Podcast nur an der Oberfläche
gekratzt, viel zu elementar.
Da besteht wesentliches Steigerungspotential.
Derselbe Kommentar gilt für die Folge
über Kryptographie, die schon länger zurückliegt.

Mein Kompliment von wegen die NZZ oder Die Zeit unter den Podcasts wurde gerade wieder massiv bestätigt :-)

Dieses Thema medial so gut rüberbringen ist echt ein Wahnsinn – wahrscheinlich hilft das reine Audio-Medium sogar dabei, wenns auf diesem Niveau stattfindet.

Videos oder Folien würden wohl eher ablenken als helfen, die Form des Gesprächs erlaubt halt viel konzentrierteren Umgang mit Themen.

Falls irgendwann doch einmal Video, dann bitte nur in der Form, dass man die Sprechenden sieht, so bliebe es rein optional und würde auch nicht so ablenken wie blöde Folien ;-)
