I like the breadth of topics you cover, I was intrigued when I saw this episode up, not that I am a huge rollercoaster fan.
I was hoping to get more information into their actual design process. Like, what is an engineer designing for other than high-but-bearable impulse to make a ride fun? Are the engineers part of the theming process? Do they scope out the location before engineering, similar to a building architect?
Maybe I didn’t pay enough attention. I did enjoy hearing about the different technologies/mechanisms of coasters though.

I agree: it could have been more detailed.

As others have stated this episode was lacking some details.
The topic is definitely an interesting one and I’d love to learn more about it.

Markus, if you want to dive deeper into the topic of Roller Coaster Design you should try to get an interview with this guy:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Werner_Stengel

He and his Munich-based company (http://www.rcstengel.com/) have built more than 500 roller coasters in the past 35+ years.

Thanks Volker, this is a very good tip! I should have researched this topic and the people better. Maybe I’ll do another one…

Thanks!
Markus

Not one of the best. The interviewee wasn’t really that knowledgeable and wasn’t very good at enthusing about his topic. Don’t judge the site on this podcast!
